Ramayana is an ancient epic written by Sage Valmiki which narrates the life of Lord Rama, the legendary Prince of the Kosala Kingdom. We all know that it follows His fourteen-year exile to the forest along with His wife Sita and brother Lakshmana. But here are some unknown facts which probably you might have never heard before!
Meaning of Rama – Rama means “unlimited spiritual pleasure”. Lord Rama is the bestower of that pleasure upon His devotees
“राम” का अर्थ – राम का अर्थ है “अनंत आध्यात्मिक आनंद” । भगवान् राम अपने भक्तों पर इस आनंद की कृपावृष्टि करते हैं ।
Ramayan has 7 kandas and 24,000 verses. Sage Valmiki wrote the complete Ramayana even before the birth of Lord Rama. By the Lord’s blessings he could foresee the events.
रामायण में 7 काण्ड और 24,000 श्लोक हैं । महर्षि वाल्मीकि ने भगवान् राम के जन्म के पूर्व ही सम्पूर्ण रामायण लिख दी थी । भगवान् राम की कृपा से उन्हें लीलाओं का पूर्वदृष्टान्त हो चुका था ।
Lord Rama went into exile at the age of 27 years.

Ayodhya is situated on the bank of Sarayu river. It originates from a lake or sarovar (Man Sarovar) therefore it is called Sarayu.
अयोध्या सरयू नदी के तट पर स्थित है । सरोवर (मान सरोवर) से उद्गम होने के कारण इसका नाम सरयू पड़ा ।
Lakshmana was the incarnation of Anantasesha and Bharata and Shatrughna were incarnations of the personal weapons of Lord Vishnu.
