पुरुषोत्तम मास को अधिक मास भी कहा जाता है क्योंकि इसमें भगवान् कृष्ण ने अपनी सारी शक्तियाँ निवेशित की हैं और इस महीने में आध्यात्मिक कार्य करने से सर्वाधिक फल प्राप्त होता है ।
इस मास कि उत्पत्ति स्वयं गोलोक वृन्दावन धाम के स्वामी भगवान् कृष्ण द्वारा हुई है इसलिए यह सर्वश्रेष्ठ मास है । यह कार्तिक, माघ और वैशाख महीनों से भी उत्तम है । विशेष भजनों से श्री श्री राधा कृष्ण की अराधाना करनी चाहिए ।
पुरुषोत्तम मास को कार्तिक मास से भी अधिक पुण्यकारी माना जाता है । यह तीन वर्षों में एक बार आता है । इस महीने में हमें अपनी आध्यात्मिक क्रियाओं में वृद्धि करनी चाहिए । इस महीने में श्रीमद भागवतम अथवा भगवद्गीता का दान करना अत्यंत पुण्यकारी माना जाता है । समस्त आध्यात्मिक क्रियाओं में भगवन्नाम का जाप सर्वाधिक शक्तिशाली मन गया है और इसलिए इस महीने में हमें अधिकाधिक जाप करके पूर्ण पुरुषोत्तम भगवान् के साथ अपना अपना सम्बन्ध और गहन करना चाहिए ।

WHY IS IT CALLED ADHIKA MAS? (extra month)
Purushottam month is called adhika (extra) masa because Sri Krishna has placed all His potencies, mercy, blessings in this month, and also because one gets more results from any religious spiritual activities. Thus only works of devotion (Krishna-bhakti) give results in Purusottama month. AND THE RESULTS ARE BIG!!
This month, made by the Lord of Goloka, Himself, is the pinnacle of all months. It is even better than the greatly pious kartika, magha and vaisakha months. With special bhajana, worship Sri Sri Radha Krishna. You will gain everything.
Purushottama Month is even more powerful than the month of Kartik. It occurs once every three years. One should increase one’s spiritual endeavours. This month is especially auspicious for gifting Srimad Bhagavatam and Bhagavad-gita. Of all spiritual practices, the chanting of the holy names is the most powerful and therefore try to make a deeper connection with the holy name during this month. Purushottama Mass starts on 16m8th July and ends on 16th August.
