Sapta Rishis or the seven great sages born from the mind of Brahma are Kashyapa, Atri, Vashishtha, Vishvamitra, Gautama, Jamadagni and Bharadvaja. They are situated on sapta-rishi loka, the seven stars of the Bear constellation.
ब्रह्मा के मन से उत्पन हुए सप्त ऋषि या सात महान ऋषि हैं - कश्यप, अत्री, विश्वामित्र, वशिष्ठ, गौतम, जमदग्नि और भारद्वाज । वे अंतरीक्ष के सप्त ऋषि लोक में वास करते हैं ।
Kashyapa – One of most celebrated sages in the Vedic scriptures and father of Lord Vamana, Garuda and even of the greatest twin demons Hiranyakashyapa and Hiranyaksha.
कश्यप – वैदिक शास्त्रों में वर्णित विशिष्ट ऋषि तथा भगवान् वामन, गरुड़ एवं इस ब्रह्माण्ड के महान असुर हिरण्यकश्यप और हिरण्याक्ष के पिता ।
Atri – The great sage Atri is the husband of Anusuya and father of Lord Dattatreya, who is the combined incarnation of Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva.
अत्री – महान ऋषि अत्री देवी अनुसूया के पति तथा ब्रह्मा, विष्णु एवं शिव के संयुक्त अवतार – भगवान् दत्तात्रेय के पिता हैं ।
Vashishtha - The royal priest of Emperor Dashratha and also known as Brahmarishi Vashishstha. He is a prominent figure in both Ramayana and Mahabharata.
वशिष्ठ – महाराज दशरथ के राजपुरोहित हैं तथा ब्रह्म ऋषि वशिष्ठ के नाम से भी जाने जाते हैं । वे महाभारत एवं रामायण में विशेष उपस्थिति रखते हैं ।
Vishvamitra – He was a king turned to sage and guru of Rama and Lakshmana. He arranged for Rama’s marriage with Sitadevi. He begot Shakuntala through Menaka.
विश्वामित्र – वे राजा से ऋषि बने एवं श्री राम तथा लक्ष्मण के गुरु हैं । उन्होंने ही श्री राम तथा सीतादेवी के विवाह कि व्यवस्था की थी । उन्होंने मेनका के द्वारा शकुंतला को जन्म दिया ।
Gautama – He cursed his wife Ahalya to become a stone. She was later delivered by Lord Rama. He is also the grandfather of the twins Kripacharya and Kripi of Mahabharata.
गौतम – अपनी पत्नी अहल्या को पत्थर बनने का श्राप दिया जिनका श्री राम ने उद्धार किया था । गौतम ऋषि महाभारत के जुड़वाँ भाई-बहन कृपाचार्य एवं कृपी के प्रपिता (दादा) हैं ।
Jamadagni – The father of Lord Parashurama, the sixth incarnation of Vishnu. He instructed his son Parashuram to kill his (Jamadagni’s) wife Renuka.
जमदग्नि – भगवान् विष्णु के छटवे अवतार भगवान् परशुराम के पिता । उन्होंने अपने पुत्र परशुराम को अपनी पत्नी रेणुका की हत्या करने का आदेश दिया था ।
Bharadvaja – Lord Rama met him during exile and while Rama’s return to Ayodhya, Rishi flooded the outskirts of Ayodhya with fruit trees for Rama’s monkeys. He is the father of Dronacharya.
भारद्वाज – भगवान् राम इनसे वनवास में मिले और और राम के अयोध्या लौटते समय ऋषि ने योगबल से नगर के बाहर वानर सेना के लिए फलों के वृक्ष लगा दिए । वे द्रोणाचार्य के पिता हैं ।
