कार्तिक मास में दीप अर्पण करने की महिमा
कार्तिक मास में प्रतिदिन भगवान् कृष्ण को घी या तिल के तेल का दिया अर्पण करना चाहिए । स्कन्द पुराण में कार्तिक मास में भगवान् कृष्ण को दीप अर्पण करने की महिमा इस प्रकार बताई गयी है
जो कार्तिक मास में भगवान् कृष्ण को दीप अर्पण करता है उसके लाखों जन्मों के पाप पलक की आधी झपक में मिट जाते हैं ।
कार्तिक मास में दीप अर्पण करने से मनुष्य को सूर्य ग्रहण के समय कुरुक्षेत्र में स्नान करने या चंद्र ग्रहण में नर्मदा में स्नान करने से एक करोड़ गुना अधिक पुण्य प्राप्त होता है।
यदि कोई मनुष्य कार्तिक मास में घी का दिया भगवान् कृष्ण को अर्पण करता है तो फ़िर उसे अश्वमेध यज्ञ करने की क्या आवश्यकता ?
यदि कोई मन्त्रों, पुण्यों और पवित्रता से विहीन है, तब भी कार्तिक मास में दीप अर्पण करने से वह सब कुछ सिद्ध कर सकता है।
जो मनुष्य कार्तिक मास में भगवान् केशव को दीप अर्पण करता है वह सभी यज्ञों को संपन्न और सभी पवित्र नदियों में स्नान किया हुआ समझा जाता है ।
पितृ कहते हैं : जब हमारे कुल में कोई वंशज भगवान् केशव को कार्तिक मास में दीप अर्पण करके प्रसन्न करेगा तो, उन सुदर्शनधारी भगवान् की कृपा से हम सबको मुक्ति मिल जाएगी ।
कार्तिक मास में दीप अर्पण करके मनुष्य मेरु या मंदार पर्वत के समान विशाल पाप संचय को भस्म कर सकता है । इसमें तनिक भी संदेह नहीं है ।
कार्तिक मास में भगवान् केशव को दीप अर्पण करनेवाले व्यक्ति को वह फल प्राप्त होता है जो कि एक सौ यज्ञ आय एक सौ तीर्थ यात्राएँ करके भी प्राप्त नहीं किया जा सकता ।
पाप कर्मों में लिप्त तथा पुण्यों का विरोधी व्यक्ति, यदि किसी प्रकार से कार्तिक मास में दीप अर्पण करे तो वह भी पवित्र हो जाता है । इसमें कोई संदेह नहीं है ।
इस संसार के तीनों लोकों में कोई ऐसा पाप नहीं है जो कार्तिक मास में भगवान् केशव को दीप अर्पण करने से नष्ट न हो सके ।
जो मनुष्य कार्तिक मास में भगवान् कृष्ण को दीप अर्पण करता है वह भगवान् के शाश्वत दिव्य धाम को जाता है, जो समस्त क्लेशों के परे है ।
During Kartik month one can daily offer a ghee or sesame oil lamp to Lord Krishna. In Skanda Purana the glories of offering lamp are explained as follows:
When one offers a lamp during the month of Kartika, his sins in many thousands and millions of births perish in half an eye blink.
By offering a lamp during the month of Kartika one attains a pious result ten million times greater than the result obtained by bathing at Kuruksetra during a solar eclipse or by bathing in the river Narmada during a lunar eclipse.
For a person who thus offers a lamp burning with ghee or sesame oil, what is the use of performing an asvasmedha-yajna?
Even if there are no mantras, no pious deeds, and no purity, everything becomes perfect when a person offers a lamp during the month of Kartika.
A person who during the month of Kartika offers a lamp to Lord Kesava has already performed all yajnas and bathing in all holy rivers.
The ancestors say: When someone in our family pleases Lord Kesava by offering to Him a lamp during the month of Karttika, then, by the mercy of the Lord who holds the Sudarsana-cakra in His Hand, we will all attain liberation.
By offering a lamp during the month of Kartika one burns away a collection of sins as big as Mount Meru or Mount Mandara. Of this there is no doubt.
A person who offers a lamp during the month of Kartika attains a result that cannot be obtained with even a hundred yajnas or a hundred pilgrimages.
Even a person addicted to all sins and averse to all pious deeds who somehow offers a lamp during Kartika becomes purified. Of this there is no doubt.
No sin exists anywhere in the three worlds that will not be purified by offering a lamp to Lord Kesava during Kartika.
A person who offers a lamp to Lord Krishna during Kartika attains the eternal spiritual world where there is no suffering.
